This conference aims to provide an opportunity for ecological restoration practitioners, academics and people engaged in the conservation field to come together and share practical and experiential learnings. The hope is for this event to provide valuable connections with one another to further the ecological restoration work in our region and support thriving biodiversity.
We are seeking anyone interested in facilitating or studying ecological restoration to present at our conference and welcome anyone interested to attend.
The Venue
The conference will be held in SJ2 at St. Jerome’s University, located on the University of Waterloo campus in Waterloo, Ontario.
St. Jerome’s is centrally located on campus at 290 Westmount Road North, close to the Student Life Centre, Campus Wellness, transit connections, parking, and other University of Waterloo facilities. SJ2 includes a bright atrium, lecture theatre, classrooms, and flexible meeting spaces that are well suited for plenary talks, concurrent sessions, workshops, and informal conversation.
Classrooms at St. Jerome’s are equipped with standard presentation technology, including computers, podiums, projectors, retractable screens, audio systems, and whiteboards. This makes the venue a good fit for a conference focused on applied learning, discussion, and exchange.
The Area

The conference venue is close to places to stay, eat, walk, and explore. Nearby accommodation options include Delta Hotels by Marriott Waterloo in Uptown Waterloo, and Homewood Suites by Hilton Waterloo in St. Jacobs. Attendees may also want to spend some time outdoors while visiting Waterloo: the University of Waterloo Environmental Reserve and the Laurel Creek Conservation Area are all nearby and offer a chance to experience some of the natural features of the area before or after the conference.
